Much Ado About Nothing

On Friday 4 July 2025 several teachers and the students of the English Leistungsfach made their way to Schloss Hohenschwangau in order to watch Shakespeare’s famous play “Much Ado About Nothing”. The play was performed by the British theatre group TNT theatre in cooperation with ADG Europe. The company themselves stated that with their interpretation of the old classic they intended “to elucidate this great play [and] not drop it in some pointless setting”. And that they certainly did. Using only a small stage and a very limited number of props the group brought Shakespeare's play of love, deception and misunderstandings to life.

The actor's passion and enthusiasm however weren’t the only things that made watching this play so special. The location of the performance, the courtyard of Schloss Hohenschwangau, made the experience intimate and very memorable, especially during the sunset, when the light created an even more beautiful atmosphere.

In total the duration of the play was one hour and 45 minutes, including a 30-minute break, during which the visitors could explore the castle and its gorgeous surroundings. During those 75 minutes of actual playtime the actors transformed Shakespeare’s words into a vivid story with modern alterations and their own touch of humour. It was truly incredible how talented they were in playing a character especially as some actors had to switch between multiple roles. Their passion definitely could be felt in the audience and made the visit very special to both, the actors and the audience.

After the show, the actors were not only happy to talk and answer any questions, but we were also able to take a photo with one of them, which made the experience feel even more personal.

The actors of the TNT theatre group surely know how to make theatre fun and exciting, which is why going to see them live is definitely worth the money!
